Tips for Using Spectrum

Spectrum provides a number of powerful features useful in building an online community, including:

  1. Profiles for members and groups
  2. Many ways to make new friends and learn from them
  3. Groups that provide an organized way to share content and discuss ideas
  4. Notifications that keep you updated on what your friends and groups are doing
  5. Blogs that allow you to engage in conversation
  6. Bookmarks, making it easy to share resources from all over the web
  7. Pages that you, your friends and others can create and organize into larger documents

The pages listed in the navigation box, to the left, will give you additional explanation and tips for using Spectrum's features.  Feel free to add your own tips as comments at the bottom of these pages.  You may also ask our group "Spectrum Helpers" for more help. To visit this group, click on the link "Spectrum Helpers" at the top left corner of the left side navigation box.

Spectrum is based on an open-source social networking platform, Elgg.  In 2008, Elgg received the Infoworld's BOSSIE award for being the best open-source social-networking platform.
