Florida Governor, Charlie Crist, has declared March as Neuromyelitis Optica Awareness Month.

As reported in the Transverse Myelitis Association's Spring 2009 Newsletter, this recognition is a result of public outreach efforts by Florida physician, Dr. Daniel Kantor.

The TMA and the autoimmune community applaud Dr. Kantor and Governor Crist for this proclaimation as their campaign to promote the need for NMO awareness, education and research helps pave the way to enhancing the lives for patients with NMO.

Dr. Kantor is the Director of the Comprehensive MS & Migraine Center at the University of Florida & Shands Jacksonville. He also serves as teh President-Elect of the Florida Society of Neurology.
