I love Richard Cohen's Blindsided as well as Strong at the Broken Places.
I highly recommend everyone find a copy of Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson. It comes in a variety of versions, but the main story is the same throughout. They even have an illustrated version for kids.

Hi Jen,
I loved Cohen's Blindsided and will no doubt read it again. It showed a very real picture of what it's like to have a debilitating disease. Nothing was sugarcoated. Often, people on the outside don't have a clue of what it's like for someone with a chronic debilitating condition. Blindsided presented a very accurate account of the stages of grief and acceptance that patients go through---we got to see it through Cohen's eyes.
Thanks for reminding me of this book. I've got to read it again.

Another excellent book for those dealing with a chronic debilitating illness is *The Five Gifts of Illness* by Jill Sklar. This inspirational book was given to me by my eye sugeon and has been a life changer.
