Spectrum Privacy Policy
August 2009
The Spectrum Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information when you use Spectrum’s products and services, including information provided when you use Spectrum. In addition, the following describes our privacy practices that are specific to Spectrum. Spectrum’s Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how we collect and use the personal information you decide to share, and help you make informed decisions when using Spectrum, located at www.[inserturl.org] and its directly associated domains (collectively, "[insert name or Website]"). By using or accessing Spectrum, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Personal information• You need a Spectrum account to create a profile, or post comments in Spectrum’s social networking site. Spectrum asks for some personal information when you create a Spectrum Account, including your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access. A Spectrum Account allows you to access many of our services that require registration. You may search for and read comments in public pages without registering for an account.
• The contents of the postings, custom pages and files, including any text, images, photos, videos, and audio that you submit to Spectrum are stored and maintained on servers that The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation pays service for in order to publish these items and provide the service. Your submitted content will be associated with your profile, if you have completed one.
• If you have a Spectrum Account, you can create a profile that includes certain personal information, including your name, geographical location, email address and other user information and content. When users view your profile, they will see your profile information as well as links to posts, custom pages, and files that would normally be accessible to them. You have the option to make certain profile information available to the public, or to make private, or to make available only to friends or logged in users.
• Spectrum collects and maintains information about your account activity, including the groups that you join or manage, lists of other members or invitees in the groups, messages or topics you track, custom pages you create or edit, ratings you make, and your preferred settings when using Spectrum.
• Spectrum Site Administrators have access to portions of your account for administration and site maintenance purposes only. The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation reserves the right to disable any account deemed by the Foundation to be fraudulent, potentially harmful, exhibiting inappropriate conduct or associated with inappropriate content. Please read Spectrum’s Terms of Service regarding inappropriate conduct and or content.
Uses
• Information and content you post in a Spectrum Account, Discussion Group, Page, Blog, or Wire - including the header information, nickname and email address associated with the posting - will be displayed to users who are able to access stated categories. You can set the access level of any account or group you create. Similarly, all information that you enter in your user profile can be viewed by other users. The owners of a Spectrum Discussion Group decide who is in the group and whether a discussion is public or restricted. As such, groups may include people you do not know. Use care when posting personal information in a discussion group, particularly sensitive information such as social security numbers, clinical information, financial information or home addresses or phone numbers.
Your choices
• You may update, change, or disable your user profile at any time by going to your edit profile page.
• You may request that your own postings be disabled, unsubscribe from a group or terminate your Spectrum Account.
• You also can change your Spectrum settings by signing into Spectrum and working within your Settings page at any time.
We may use contact information you provide to this network in the administration of the network. This learning network gives you the means for controlling how your personal information and provided content are to be shared with others.
