Rituxan Treatment

August 25, 2011 by positivechi   Comments (0)

I just had my very first Rituxan treatment today. I began my drip around 9am after taking one Tylenol, one Benadryl, and 100mg of steroids. I left the infusion center around 2pm. Aside from feeling groggy there has been no real chage or reaction to side effects. I go back next Thursday for another 1000mg. My rheumatologist says we are both going through what he calls "unchartered territories" because I am his first patient with NMO. The representative from Rituxan gave them a 4 page study of people on this medication, but they varied in success and failure. I hope I am going in the right direction :) Peace to all.

Back to UCLA

Hi Lorinmopt, I will be returning back to UCLA in Los Angeles tomorrow in hopes of getting some more information on rituxan. Imuran was originally suggested about a year ago by my neurologist, but because I had been stable. I decided not take it. Now, that my attacks have been more frequent within the last 6 months, I am being told rituxan is my best bet. Trust me, I will have quite a few questions for Dr Gorun, who is the rheumatologist. I'll keep you posted. Take Care.

Optimistic!

Hello Friends! This afternoon I went to see Dr. Callie Momtazee at UCLA for a consultation and after speaking with her I feel very optimistic about my decision to begin Rituxan. I have been told to see a rheumatologist and have an mri done for a starting point. Although primarily on natural supplements and acupuncture for the last two years relatively "flare-free", the last six months and 3 flares have led me to believe that it is now time for another course of action. I am going into this with an open mind and will hope for the best. I will define my life...NOT the disease!

First visit to NMO clinician!

Hello Devic's Supporters,

Tomorrow I will be meeting with an NMO clinician for the first time in my own state of CA, just an hour away in Los Angeles. I found her using the map on the Spectrum site. Thank-you for helping me find her, although I had to go through hoops(insurance company) to get her. Hopefully, I will have a better understanding as to how to approach this condition. Wish me luck! Happiness and Good Health to all! Tiffany R.
